Georgie's Blog #1
After a successful win over Team Northumbria last Saturday the Thunder girls have had a rest from training this week, so I think Wright Robinson Sports College's staff must be missing us all. While some have had their own training sessions and early nights sleep, the England Netball U21 and Senior Squad members have been jetsetters to the likes of sunny Australia and Jamaica respectively.
I am lucky enough to be writing this blog on my first ever tour from the Australian Institute of Sport computer room. Beth Cobden, Alice Travis, Ellie Cardwell and I are surrounded by the likes of the AIS Netball team, the men's Basketball team and GB Olympic Gold Medalist Greg Rutherford (no seriously!), we all stampeded him in the dining area for a photo and not to brag but I stood next to him. Athlete admiring aside, so far it has been a tough week of training all in prep for our five matches versus the AIS side. Nelly and Sam will be glad - or maybe won't be due to their conversion from Aussie to Manc- to hear that we have played two out of the five and lost both. However this is no reflection of our abilities and how we can perform, we've got three matches left and I reckon we can win.
Aside from the matches, the four of us have perfected our accents and will be ready to show off on return. Maybe after a few days sleep because we will all be victims of Jet Lag (it is such a killer!)
Hoping that all my Manchester Team are enjoying themselves, we certainly are in 24 degrees. Best of luck also to Emma and Laura in Jamaica…we are expecting big things! See you all Phase Two, get your tickets now as we need your fantastic support to help us finish top of the Challenger League and qualify for the play-offs in May.
