Kathryn's Blog - Phase 1 Review.....
A fixture against Celtic Dragons on St. David’s day meant a five hour journey to Cardiff on Friday afternoon. The trip started off pretty much as usual with Krista providing the DVD’s and Sara Bayman being asleep before the coach left the car park! A quiz about Wales had also been organised by the coaching staff to keep us amused. None of us did very well, however, and it was Debbie Hallas and Gabs Towell, out NTL Coach who came out victorious by half a point, much to Beth Cobden’s disappointment.
When we arrived at the venue, pre match preparations went quickly and before we knew it we were on court to face potentially tricky opposition. We took an early lead and increased this throughout the game. It was a great team effort and we came away with a good win and plenty to build on going forward. Player of the match was deservedly awarded to Laura Malcolm, with another athletic display in the Centre position.
With three wins from four games under our belts we are now focussing on the next match against Surrey Storm, who are currently in pole position. We will be working hard in training during the coming week to prepare ourselves for this challenging fixture (catch it on Sky Sports on Thursday 14th March).
The mood in the squad is very positive as we move through Phase One and we are sure that we can produce some good performances to secure our place in the top four and the opportunity to defend our title!
